Pigeons – much hated, loved and fended off, almost omnipresent in Vienna. This is the topic of Flora Zimmeter’s series of screen prints based on photographs of pigeons crowning statues, eyeing public toilets and scuttling innocently behind spikes put up for the purpose of fending them off. The second focus of this series is on ducks, the species of Viennese birds most heavily subsidized by the doting city council.
“Viennese scenes” is an ironic artistic comment on birdlife in the city of Vienna.
