Paradise Lost

2017-18, Pigment Inkjet Print,  55 x 66,6 cm

The series “Paradise Lost“ by Flora Zimmeter metaphorically deals with the loss of paradise, with innocence lost. The photomontages allude to the sphere of body perception- and depiction, ideals of beauty, gender roles and cultural norms. The artist frequently combines works from her own archive with each other or with photographs of dolls arranged specifically for the work at hand. Mostly, the intervention is obvious but in some cases, closer attention is required for the underlying meaning to unfold.
